With reference to our telephone conversation of the 14th July in the course of which we discussed the question of certain stores supplied to Hong Kong in 1946/7, we enclose a copy of the list (3 sheets) concerned.

The Government of Hong Kong informs us that no charge has been made to them for the stores and the only payments made relate in one or two instances to the ocean freight, e.g. on sheet 3.

Hong Kong are anxious to finalise the transactions and wish to know whether they will be debited with any part of the cost. For the most we know nothing of the transaction although we did pay freight and insurance on three items on instructions from Hong Kong.

In our telephone conversation you were good enough to promise to look into these transactions as to whether they come within the category of "Hang over stores falling as a charge on the Service Departments.

the matter.

We shall be most grateful if you can help us in
